Naledge of Kidz In The Hall is having a birthday this week, and the celebration is already on full force in the Windy City. Mr. Go Ill kicked it at Lumen on Saturday night, and followed it up with a performance at the Metro on Sunday. In association with his birthday, Naledge will be debuting a new solo track entitled "Happy Birthday To Me" on Wednesday, September 10th, his 25th Birthday. The song will premiere exclusively at RubyHornet.com.
The song will also appear on a forthcoming solo mixtape/album that Naledge will be releasing with Mick Boogie. He's been steadily recording material for the project, and recently hit the studio with fellow Chicago emcee, Mikkey Halsted (video coming soon). Naledge and Mikkey linked up after being put in touch by RH's RTC, and the rest is musical history.
Naledge told RubyHornet, "I've been a fan of Mikkey Halsted since I heard his last mixtape. He's one of those emcees that makes me want to rap after I listen to him."
Mikkey shared those sentiments, he told us, "I followed Naledge since the Rawkus days. I always liked him cause I saw him as a well-rounded emcee. I knew he had an educational background, but also an edge to him…There’s like a secret society of dope emcees, and we got to work together because there aren’t many left. When I heard the beat and he told me the concept of the song and who else would be there, I was on it."
I can't divulge more details on the song, but it does have an ill concept, and features another emcee never afraid to hold his tongue.
